Sustainability principles according to ESG – Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance

The Pension Fund applies a sustainability approach to its investments that complies with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Sustainability is implemented in accordance with the specific market conditions applying to the individual asset classes (traditional investments, real estate, private equity).

In regards to traditional investments, the Pension Fund avoids investing in companies that violate Swiss or internationally recognised sustainability principles. The asset managers entrusted with the investment of assets have all ratified the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI). In addition, the Avadis investment foundations are members of the Swiss Sustainable Finance (SSF) organisation. The Avadis investment groups exclude investments in companies associated with proscribed weapons (Oslo and Ottawa Conventions) and apply the exclusion list drawn up by the Swiss Association for Responsible Investment (SVVK).

The Pension Fund invests 100% of the Global Equities hedged indexed investment group in the ESG product Aktien Welt CO₂ Selection hedged indexed. This investment group aims to achieve a CO₂ reduction of > 50% compared to the benchmark index. The Pension Fund exercises the voting rights for all equity investment groups via a proxy and also enters via a proxy into dialogue with companies (engagement).
